Nina Bataller - Journalist Photographer

My life as an award winning travel photographer has taken me around the globe more than a few times. My first credited photo was published in the NY Times in 1998. I’ve shown my work in a number of venues in East Hampton and Sag Harbor NY over the years, and been published in the venerable East Hampton Star.

As the publisher of Your Photo Authority, an online magazine available through the Apple store in coming months, I am delighted to have the opportunity to interview many of the worlds best photographers, some I am proud to call friends. Travel photography is the focus, with many insights gleaned from years of travels. Where to go, where to stay, what to bring, how to do it. How the pros do it. Who to go with. How to take great photos. That sort of thing.

My love affair with a camera stretches back to my first Ricoh in 1972. A Nikon followed soon after. In 2001, when boxes of prints and negatives had taken over the house, my husband threatened to divorce me if I didn’t switch to digital. Grudgingly, I gave in to my first DSLR and haven’t looked back. I briefly fell for the lure of digital video, but my love for still photos has prevailed. In my life, a camera or two is rarely out of reach, ‘cause “hey, you never know”.

Next up on my travel list are Borneo, China, Istanbul, New Zealand, Patagonia, Cook Islands, and the Yukon. The Trans-Siberian Railroad calls to me. Of course the good ol’ USA always works for me.

I’m off to Kenya shortly to shoot for www.UnstoppableFoundation.org  Spending some time afterwards in the Massai Mara to witness The Great Migration of the wildebeests and zebras from the Serengeti, then stopping in Istanbul on my return.  Check back soon for new work!

Everywhere you go, there is beauty and joy. Because you can bring it with you.

I hope you find both beauty and joy in my photographs.
